There
are memorials to the men from Upton Upon Severn who fell in both wars on plaques
in the memorial hall and also in the church of Saints Peter & Paul. The names
are the same mostly but extra names from the church are denoted thus
and from the memorial hall *. Their are four
brass panels on the outside wall at the front of Memorial Hall and two wooden
boards within the church. The men are listed by name and initial in the memorial
hall but by full name in the church.

of Kinver, Stourbridge (formerly of Upton-on-Severn) and grandson

in action in France on May 16th.

and his obituary appeared in the in the Upton News as follows:
“The
deceased, who had been in the Mercantile Service for about seven
years, was fairly well-known in the district, where he repeatedly
came on a visit to his relatives. He was engaged at the outset of
the war in Indian waters, but later HM. Transport ‘Trafford
Hall’, which was specially mentioned for her services, was
transferred to German East Africa, where deceased saw two years
service and where he contracted the complaint from which he died.”
Buried in Upton upon Severn cemetery. No gravestone (Upton Town
Council are arranging for a wooden cross). |
