at the junction of the B5108 and the B5025, near Tesco Supermarket,
in Benllech. The memorial (stone of remembrance) takes the form of a
rough-hewn, irregular, monolith standing on a three-stepped base with
the names on tablets. The memorial was unveiled 4 August 1922 by Mrs.
Lloyd-George. There are 20 names for World War 1 listed on a tablet
on the main face of the memorial and 13 names for World War 2 on dressed
marble tablets on the front face of the top two steps. The names here
have been sorted into alphabetical order within conflict for ease of
reading and research. More details can be found on the LostAncestors.eu

"Cymrian" (London), Mercantile Marine. Drowned at sea
wne his ship was sunk by enemy submarine 25 August 1917. Aged 48.
Born at Dinas, Llanengrad, Anglesey. Son of Elizabeth and the late
Thomas Hughes; husband of Mary Hughes (nee Roberts), of the Post
Office, Trevor, Chevilog, Carnarvon, N. Wales. In the 1901 census
he was aged 32, born Tynygongl, Anglesey, Wales, Running Drapery
& post office, married to Mary Hughes, resident Post Office,
Frevor, Llanaelhaiarn, Pwllheli, Caernarvonshire, Wales. No known
grave. Commemorated on TOWER HILL MEMORIAL, London.
