Son of Mrs. Eliza Farr, of 16, Hibbert Cottages, Hibbert Street, Luton, Bedfordshire. In the 1881 census he was aged 2, born Luton, son of Richard and Eliza Farr, resident 17, Chobham Street, Luton. Educated at Luton, Queen's Square Boys' School. In the 1891 census he was aged 12, born Luton, a scholar, son of Richard G and Eliza Farr, grandson of Richard Godfrey, resident Cumberland Street, Luton. In the 1901 census he was aged 22, born Luton, a Straw Hat Packer, son of Richard and Eliza Farr, resident 37, Arthur Street, Luton. In the 1911 census he was aged 32, born Luton, a Straw hat Packer, boarding at 77, Bury Park Road, Luton. No known grave. Commemorated on THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, Somme, France. FARR Sydney William
Lance Corporal 31137, 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Killed in action 29 September 1918. Born and resident Luton, enlisted Bedford. Married. Resident 32, Cowper Street. In the 1901 census he was aged 10, born Luton, son of Henry and Sarah J Farr, resident 99, New Town Street, Luton. Reserve soldier. No known grave. Birth registered as Arthur Thomas Felks in the January to March Quarter 1884 in Luton. Unmarried. Son of John and M. Felks, of 23, John Street, Luton. FELKS, T., Private, Bedfordshire Regiment.
He volunteered in April 1915, and was drafted to the Dardanelles, and took part in the landing at Suvla Bay and in the engagements which followed until the Evacuation of Gallipoli. In May he was sent to Egypt, and served with the British Forces under General Allenby in the Advance on Palestine, and fought in the Battle of Gaza. He was killed in action in a later engagement on July 21st, 1917, and holds the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.

FENSOME, G. A., Private, 6th Yorkshire Regt.
He joined in October nth, and on the completion of his training served at various stations on important duties with his unit. He afterwards proceeded to North Russia and did much valuable work at Archangel. He was accidentally killed at Bakaritza in August 1919. He was entitled to the General Service and Victory medals.

He volunteered in September 1915, and in the following May, on the completion of his training, was drafted to Fiance, where he served for only four months before being shot by a sniper and taken prisoner. He died from his injuries on September 20th, 1916, and was entitled to the General Service and Victory Medals.

According to the National Roll of the Great War - Section V - Luton:

FENSOME, W., Private, Bedfordshire Regiment.
Volunteering in August 194, he was drafted to France a year later, and stationed for a time at Le Havre. Later he took part in the severe fighting at the Battle of the Somme, and was severely wounded and gassed in action. He was invalided home, and after hospital treatment was discharged as medically unfit for further service in December 1917. He subsequently died through the effects of gas-poisoning in November 26th, 1919. He was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory MedaIs.

The cause of the accident was due to the pilot losing control of the machine and allowing it to spin and not having sufficient height to get it out again. The machine caught fire on striking the ground.
