Lieutenant 307939.  1st Battalion Grenadier Guards.  Died Thursday 3 August 1944.  Commemorated on   Tilly-sur-Seulles War Cemetery, Calvados, France.  Ref. IV.E.8

JOLLY

Arthur William

Driver T/70462.  Royal Army Service Corps.  Died Thursday 30 May 1940.  Age 25.  Son of Harry & Annie Jolly; husband of Joan Rosa Jolly of Biggleswade.  Commemorated on   Oostende New Communal Cemetery, Oostende, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.  Ref.  Plot 9. Row 3. Grave 13.

PARSONS

Henry Thomas

Able Seaman C/JX157701.  HMS Gloucester R.N.   Died Thursday 22 May 1941.  Age 26.  Son of Mr. Mrs. F. Parsons of Old Warden, Bedfordshire.  Commemorated on   Chatham Naval memorial, Kent.  Ref. 43,2.

Special note:  HMS Gloucester was a Light Class Cruiser.  Launched 1937.  She was attacked and sunk on 22 May 1941 by bombs from German and Italian aircraft N.W. of Crete with a loss of 736 lives.

SHUTTLEWORTH

Richard Ormonde

Pilot officer 76022.  Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.  Died Friday 2 august 1940.  Age 31.  Son of Colonel Frank Shuttleworth and Dorothy Clotilda Shuttleworth of Biggleswade.  Commemorated on   Old Warden (St. Leonard) Churchyard, Bedfordshire.
