EATON HASTINGS WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 - Roll of Honour with detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Baron Bratby 2008

The Eaton hastings memorial is to be found on the village green. It takes the form of a plain obelisk of Portalnd stone on a square plinth with a two-stepped base. The original inscriptions were very badly erorded. Originally the memorial contained the names of 31 men who served and returned and eight that died in World War 1; it now has a new plate containing the inscription and the names of the 8 that died. The original memorial was unveiled by Lord Faringdon 24th October 1920, the builder being Mr Charles Denner; details to be found in the Faringdon Advertiser 30th October 1920.
