Horwood Airfield crashed on this site on 7th August 1943.

Sgt. Pilot, R.A.F. 1316984. Age 22 yrs. Buried in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church, Pontnewydd.

Sgt. WO/AG. RAF 1382646. Age 31 yrs. Buried Botley Cemetery, Oxford. Commonwealth War Grave.

Flt/Sgt. A/G, RAAF 424169. Age 24 yrs. Buried Botley Cemetery, Oxford. Commonwealth War Grave.

Sgt. Bomb Aimer, RAF 1253037. Age 19 yrs. Cremated at Oxford Crematorium. Ashes were scattered around the Lily Pond, and his name is on the Services Wall Plaque.

One 6 month old black and white cat named `Wimpey’, a constant companion and unofficial crew member.

The navigator, Sgt. Jeffrey Harrington, survived.
