Sussex Yeomanry - probably Frank Trevor Brookes, Serjeant 320169 Royal Sussex Regiment who died on Wednesday, 23rd October 1918 with the British Expeditionary Force. Age 25. Enlisted Brighton. Son of David and Mabel Brookes, of The Cottage, Amberley, Bury Rd., Newmarket. Born at Ross, Herefordshire. Buried in DURRINGTON CEMETERY, Wiltshire. Grave 309.

Ernest

Suffolk Reg - Lance Corporal 12343, 7th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Died of wounds 4th October 1916. Aged 23. Son of Alfred and Elizabeth Parr, of New Cottage, Snailwell. Born Snailwell, enlisted Newmarket. Buried near East boundary in SNAILWELL (ST. PETER) CHURCHYARD, Cambridgeshire.

Arthur William

Suffolk Reg - Private 41107, 7th Battalion, Suffolk Regiment. Killed in action 27thg March 1918. Aged 21. Son of Annie Eliza Tweed (formerly Randall), of Rectory Cottage, Snailwell, Newmarket. Formerly 2778, Suffolk Regiment. Commemorated on POZIERES MEMORIAL, Somme, France. Panel 25.

R.A.S.C. - Private M/286805, Royal Army Service Corps. Died 16th July 1917 in Mesopotamia (Iraq). Born Horseheath, enlisted Newmarket, resident Stetchworth. Husband of Mrs. A. K. Roote, of 7, London Road Cottages, Newmarket. Buried in BASRA WAR CEMETERY, Iraq. Plot IV. Row E. Grave 18.

R.G.A. - Gunner 82920, 150th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action on Thursday, 28th June 1917. Born and resident Snailwell, (spelt Snarwell SDWG) enlisted Newmarket. Buried in LOOS BRITISH CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France. Plot XIX. Row D. Grave 10.

WESTLEY

IX Lancers - Corporal 41357, 2nd Squadron, Machine Gun Corps (Cavalry). Killed in action 21st August 1918. Born Moulton, Suffolk, enlisted Newmarket, resident Snailwell. Formerly 6451, R.C.R. Commemorated on VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 10.

WESTLEY

Ralph

K.O.Y.L.I. - Private 200252 [CWGC states 200258], 10th Battalion, King's Own (Yorkshire Light Infantry). Died of wounds 4th October 1917. Born London, enlisted Batley. Commemorated: TYNE COT MEMORIAL, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 108 to 111.

R.A. - Bombardier 844329, 54 (The Queen’s Own Royal Glasgow Yeomanry) Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery. Died 2nd October 1944. Aged 27. Son of Albert and Rosetta May Challice, of Newmarket, Suffolk. Buried in JONKERBOS WAR CEMETERY, Gelderland, Netherlands. Plot 14. Row B. Grave 5.
