The
Aberystwyth Allegory War Memorial stands in the grounds of Aberystwyth,
on the sea front, the promontory, Aberystwyth. It takes the form of
a figure of Victory (or Peace) mounted on an obelisk and at the base
is a second figure representing humantiy emerging from the entanglement
of war above the arms of Aberwystwyth and a Welsh Dragon. Irt bears
the names of 105 men whod ied in World War 1 and 68 who died in World
War 2. The original memorial cost £7,000 raised by public subscription,
the artist being Signor Mario Ruttelim, and unveiled on 14th September
1923 by Captain E Llewellyn.
