The Court having considered the evidence before them find
that the accident was due to the pilot choking his engine
and trying t0 turn back into the Aerodrome when he had
lost flying speed, which resulted in his spinning into
the ground. The Court find that the machine was in perfect
order.

for several days before reaching land and was one of two crew who
died when food and water had run out 20 May 1917. Aged 21. Born
8 July 1895. Son of James Taylor Wardlaw and Mary Hutchison Wardlaw,
of 15 Coningsby Place, Alloa, Clackmannanshire. Student of Glasgow
University. In the 1901 census he was aged 5, born Alloa, Clackmannanshire,
a scholar, son of James and Mary Wardlaw, resident 13, Ward Street,
Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. No known grave. Commemorated

DIED
OF WOUNDS
Private
John Wilkie White (2056),
10th Battalion Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 72 Main Street,
Sauchie. Thursday morning White received a letter informing
her that husband had died of wounds in an (sic) hospital
in France. The letter was written by a nurse in the hospital.
It appears that Private White had been wounded in the head,
and afterwards succumbed to his wound. The deceased, who was
twenty-eight years of age, was a son of Mr Jas. White, Main
Street, Sauchie. He was a miner, and was formerly employed at
Blairhall Colliery. He enlisted on 21st August, 1914, and went
to France, on 12th May. He leaves a widow and two young children.

1916. Previously admitted to Bushy Park Hospital 11 May 1917 with
shrapnel wounds to the Left Shoulder, discharged 25 May 1917. Buried
in DOMINION CEMETERY, HENDECOURT-LES-CAGNICOURT, Pas de Calais,
