Green, of Alloa, Clackmannanshire. No known grave. Commemorated

Drowned at sea when his ship foundered off Ireland 28 February
1941. Aged 19. Resident 35, Hilton Road, Alloa, Scotland. No known
grave.
Note:
The 2,088-ton Egyptian steamer Memphis, on a voyage from Manchester,
England, to Vigo, Spain, ran into heavy weather off the northwest
coast of Ireland. Soon afterwards her engines broke down and she
foundered with all on board being lost, which included 29 survivors
from the Norwegian motor vessel Benjamin Franklin that had been
torpedoed by German submarine U-103. [Extract from World

Reserve. Flying out of R.A.F. Watton, Norfolk, in a Blenheim IV,
serial number V6436, he was killed when his aircraft was shot down
by flak at Maassluis during a low-level raid on shipping in Rotterdam
harbour 28 August 1941. Aged 23. Native of Alloa, Clackmannanshire.
Son of Matthew Gunnis, and of Elizabeth Dorman Gunnis, of Alloa,
Clackmannanshire. Died 28 August 1941. Aged 23. Buried in HOOK OF
HOLLAND GENERAL CEMETERY, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. Row F. Collective
