WHITWELL BRIDGE WAR MEMORIAL

The memorial is located in The Square, Whitwell, Derbyshire. It is constructed of stone, the hexagonal shaped base being surmounted by column on top of which is mounted a cross. The names of the fallen of World War One are inscribed on plaques which are placed on the faces of the memorial, and beneath these are further plaques containing the names of the fallen of World War Two. No military ranks are given and the names are listed in alphabetical order. There are steps at the base of the memorial on which wreaths are placed on Remembrance Sunday.
