The Exeter Post Office War memorial has been lost but did reside in Exeter Post Office, High Street, Exeter. It was an ornate, concave headed, wooden board, with the inscription carved in relief and the coat of arms also carved intot he top of the board; further ornate foliate carvings were placed on either side of the beginning of the list of names with two crossed palm branches carved in relief at the bottom of the board with a dove of peace below them. There are 14 names listed

[Incorrectly listed as 10732 on SDGW] Private 10723 [CWGC and Medal Card], 8th (Service) Battalion, Devonshire Regiment. Killed in action 25 September 1915. Aged 37. Born and resident Dawlish, Devon, enlisted Exeter. Disembarked 25 July 1915. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Hooper, of High St., Dawlish, Devon. No known grave. Commemorated on LOOS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 35 to 37.
KERSWELL James Edwin
[Listed as Sergeant on memorial] Sapper 182777, Yeomanry Mounted Division Signal Squadron, Royal Engineers. Died on service in Egypt 25 October 1918. Born Belderrig, Co. Sligo, resident Dawlish, Devon, enlisted Exeter. Buried in HAIFA WAR CEMETERY, Israel and Palestine (including Gaza). Plot A. Grave 15.
