SIDMOUTH WAR MEMORIAL

World War 1 & 2 - Detailed information
Compiled and copyright © Paul Radford 2010

The Sidmouth war memorial stands outside St Giles and St Nicholas church and takes the form of a large wheel cross of stone mounted on a stepped, octagonal, plinth with the inscription being carried by the largest section; there is a Celtic style carving in the head of the cross. The memorial commemorates World War 1 and 2 but baers no names. There are two tablets within the church bearing the names of those who fell in both wars but sadkly the church is inaccessible currently and these could not be transcribed; there are 1117 names for World War 1 and 52 for World War 2.
