STANFORD LE HOPE WAR MEMORIAL

This Memorial tis to be found opposite St Margaret of Antioch Church, The Green, Stanford le Hope. It takes the form of a tTwo stepped base surmounted by square plinth and obelisk. Inscription on red granite. Tablets set into the sides of the plinth. Tablets with WW2 names on them rest against the side of the top step. Flower bed edged by concrete posts and metal chains enclose the area around the memorial. Maker, Messrs Underwood & Son, unveiled 26 September 1920; attended by local clergy/dignitaries. Restored in 1914 by Adamson Conservation & L.E. Brands - see Newspaper Article
