Tiptree
is a village situated 10 miles south-west of Colchester. The war memorial
is located at the junction of Church Street, the B1023, and Chapel Street.
The memorial takes the form of a tapered plinth surmounted by a tapering
shaft and wheel cross. With the inscription in black lettering on the
front face of the shaft and on the plinth. There is a curved brick wall
behind the cross and whole stands on a paved area. There are 53 names
listed for World War 1 and 20 names for World War 2. The curved wall
was a lter addition in 1990.
