The
East Stratton War Memorial stands beside the roadside and takes the
form of a wheeled cross of rough hewn stone mounted on a tapering plinth
which bears the names and inscriptions. The whole monument stands on
a stepped base which is surrounded by a low slung chain link fence.
There are 13 names for World War 1 and 4 for World War 2.

Wembley Park Drive, Wembley, Middlesex. Native of Boston, Lincolnshire.
Buried in Hebuterne Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France, IV.

bullet wound at Hill 60, Flanders, 29th April 1915. Born Ropley,
Hampshire 1883, enlisted Winchester, resident Little London, Hampshire.
A farm labourer living at Larkwhistle, East Stratton/Micheldever
according to the 1911 census. He was survived by his wife Ada Brown
and daughter Constance Dora Brown. His unborn son Charles George
Brown was born 3 months after his death. His medals and wallet which
bears the bullet hole are on display at the Hampshire Regiment Museum
Winchester. No known grave. Commemorated on Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial,
