FOUR
MARKS WAR MEMORIAL
World
War 1& 2 - Detailed Information
Compiled and copyright © John Simmons 2008
The Four Marks war memorials are to be found within the Church of the
Good Shepherd, Lymington Bottom, Four Marks, Hampshire; the World War
1 mmeorial was held in the village hall until November 1992 when it
was moved to ensure care could be taken of it at which time it was restored.
The World War 1 memorial contains 13 names and takes the form of a nowy-headed
board with raised centre section with carved inscription on it; there
is a moulded cornice with carved foliate wreath style in the centre.
The World War 2 memorial also contains 13 names and is in the form of
a wooden board with moulded border, the wood was cracked at the base
as one time. A disagreement arose over decision as to whether to record
the names alphabetically or by rank.
