Private 7294, 17 Platoon, "E" Company, 16th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Died of wounds 8 November 1917. Aged 22. Born St. Patrick's, Manchester, enlisted Manchester. Son of John Henry and Maggie Fagan; husband of Annie (nee McMillan) Fagan, of 64, Vauxhall Street, Blackley, Manchester, married 23 December 1915 at St. Anne's R.C. Church, Manchester. In the 1911 census he was aged 16, born Mnchester, son of John Henry and Maggie Faga, resident 30 Dora Street, Manchester, Manchester, Lancashire. Attested 14 December 1914 at Heaton Park, Manchester, aged 20 years 1 month, a Carter by trade, unmarried at time of attestation, height 5 feet 3 inches, weight 118 lbs, chest 34½ inches, sallow complexion, blue eyes, hair black, religious denomination orgiinally Roman Catholic but converted to Church of England 4 August 1915. With British Expeditionary Force to France, embarked S.S. Victoria at Folkestone 3 February 1916, disembarked 3 February 1916 at Etaples, joined Battalion 20 February 1916. Buried in POND FARM CEMETERY, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Row O. Grave 3.
FAIRBAIRN William Henry
Gunner 98064, 195th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action 9 September 1918. Born and enlisted Manchester, resident Blackley, Manchester. Admitted to 18th General Hospital 15 February 1917 with Trench Feet, transferred to 4 Casualty Clearing Station 21 February 1917. In the 1911 census he was aged 23, born Manchester, a a Silks Salesman, boarding at 58, Irlam Street, Miles Platting, Manchester, North Manchester, Lancashire. Buried in VIS-EN-ARTOIS BRITISH CEMETERY, HAUCOURT, Pas de Calais, France. Plot II. Row C. Grave 41.

FALLOWFIELD Herbert

Private 17885, 14 Platoon, 'D' Company, 20th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Died of wounds 15 March 1916. Aged 21. Born Ardwick, Lancashire, enlisted Manchester. Son of William Henry and Emily Fallowfield, of 76, Rochdale Road Blackley, Manchester. Note the different name for his mother in the census. In the 1901 census he was aged 6, born Manchester, son of William Henry and Elizabeth Fallowfield, resident 38, Moston Lane, North Manchester, Prestwich, Lancashire. In the 1911 census he was aged 16, born Manchester, an Apprentice To Making Up, son of William Henry and Elizabeth Fallowfield, resident 76, Rochdale Road, Blackley Manchester, North Manchester, Lancashire. Buried in CORBIE COMMUNAL CEMETERY, Somme, France. Plot I. Row E. Grave 13.

Son of William Edward and Sarah Ann Fallows; husband of Elizabeth Hannah (nee Stanley, formerly Fallows) Kenworthy, of 55, Grant Street, Blackley, Manchester; married 14 January 1901 in Victoria Chapel, Queens Road, Cheetham, Lancashire, one daughter, Hilda, born 11 May 1901 at 43, Middleton Road, Blackley. In the 1911 census he was a boarder, aged 30, born Blackley, married, a Greey (sic) Man, resident 8 Annesfield Terrace Greenfield, Saddleworth, Yorkshire & Yorkshire (West Riding). Attested 7 October 1914 in Manchester, aged 34 years 2 months, a Stock Keeper by trade, married, born Cheetham Hill, Manchester, height 5 feet 5½ inches, weight 120 lbs, chest 35 inches, pale complexion, brown eyes, dark brown hair, religious denomination Wesleyan. Joined at Edinburgh 9 October 1914, assigned to 15th Battalion. Admitted to 2nd Western General Hospital, Manchester, 8 January 1917 with influenza, discharged 23 March 1917. Son of John and Matilda Faulkner, of 33, Wilson Road, Blackley, Manchester. In the 1901 census he was aged 12, born Salford, a scholar, son of John and Matilda Faulkner, resident 60, Church Street, North Manchester, Prestwich, Lancashire. Attested 8 December 1915 at Manchester, aged 27 years 7 months, height 5 feet 5 inches, weight 112 lbs, chest 33½ inches, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair, Clerk by trade, unmarried at enlistment. Religious denomination Church of England. Mobilized 29 February 1916. Embarked Folkestone, disembarked Boulogne 28 September 1916, joined units at Etaples 29 September 1916. With Field Ambulance with scabies and Diarrhorea 3 December 1916, then Diarhorrea 7 December 1916, then Casualty Clearing Station with Dysentery 14 December 1916, 25 Field Hospital suspected mild Dysentery 28 December 1916, transferred to 9 General Hospital, Rouen 2 January 1917, transferred to England 17 January 1917. Baptised 25 October 1885 in Harpurhay, Christ Church, Lancashire. Son of Alexander and Sarah Jane Ferrier; husband of Florence (nee Whittaker) Ferrier, of 69, Cobden St., Moston Lane, Blackley, Manchester, married 26 December 1913 in Blackley, Holy Trinity. Private 736, 1st Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Killed in action 21 December 1914. Born and enlisted Manchester. In the 1891 census he was aged 8, born Blackley, son of Samuel and Alice Fielding, resident Exchange Street, Blackley, Prestwich, Lancashire. In the 1901 census he was aged 18, born Blackley, a General Labourer, son of Samuel and Alice Fielding, resident 20, Exchange Street, Blackley, Prestwich, Lancashire. No known grave. Commemorated on LE TOURET MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panels 34 and 35.
FINN Joseph F
Private possible information Death registered April to June 1919 in the Prestwich Registration District, Lancashire, aged 23. In the 1901 census Joseph Francis Finn was aged 5, born Manchester, son of William and Elizabeth A Finn, resident 146, Slater Street, Manchester, Lancashire.
FISHER James
Private 2217, 1st/7th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Killed in action at Gallipoli 4 June 1915. Born Blackley, Manchester, enlisted Manchester. No known grave. Commemorated on HELLES MEMORIAL, Turkey (including Gallipoli). Panel 159 to 171.

In the 1911 census he was aged 15, born Blackley, an Office Boy, son of Walter and Ada Ford, resident 77 Grant Street, Blackley, North Manchester, Lancashire. Attested 19 April 1915 at Calgary, Alberta, Canada, aged 30 years 4 months, unmarried, height 5 feet 5 inches, c155 lbs, hest 37 inches, fair complexion, brown eyes, brown hair, religious denomination Church of England. Transferred to 9 Reserve Battalion September 1915, transferred to 31st Battalion 29 November 1915. Embarked for England aboard S.S Northalnd 29 May 1915. FORSHAW.—Killed in action on September 15, 1916, Private ALFRED EDMUND FORSHAW (80252), Canadian Infantry, age 31, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Forshaw, 6, Hill Lane, Blackley. Deeply mourned by all his FAMILY, and BROTHERS, BROTHERS-IN-LAW, and NEPHEWS (all serving their country). He heard the call afar off, and gladly answered.

In the 1911 census he was aged 14, born Blackley, a Clerk, son of Joseph and Jane Foulkes, resident 29 Vauxhall Street Blackley Manchester, North Manchester, Lancashire. Buried in BLACKLEY (ST.
