Private 3859156, 5th Battalion, The Loyal Regiment (North Lancashire). Killed in action during the evacuation at Dunkirk 28 May 1940. Aged 22. Born 7 March 1918 in Lancashire and resident Blackpool. Son of Mrs. E. Tapper, of Blackpool, Lancashire; husband of Mary H (nee Vause) Tapper, married 1939 in the Haslingden Registration District, Lancashire. Stores Porter by trade. In 1939 he was resident at 59 Boardman Avenue, Blackpool C.B., Lancashire. No known grave. Commemorated on DUNKIRK MEMORIAL, Nord, France. Column 110.

Ordinary Seaman D/JX 192957, H.M.S. "Venetia", Royal Navy. Died when his ship struck a mine off Knob Buoy in the Thames Estuary, northeast of Margate, Kent, and sank 18 October 1940. Aged 21. Born 3 August 1919 in Blackpool. Son of Harold Taylor, and of Nellie Taylor, of Blackpool, Lancashire. No known grave. Commemorated on PLYMOUTH NAVAL MEMORIAL, Devon. Panel 39, Column 1.
