Resident Altrincham, Cheshire. Son of Walter and Minnie Yarwood; husband of Mary Elizabeth Yarwood, of Marton, Blackpool, Lancashire. Taken prisoner 25 December 1941. Buried in YOKOHAMA WAR CEMETERY, Japan. British Section. Plot D. Row D. Grave 5.

Note: HMS Cicala (T 71) was a river gunboat of the Insect class that was sunk 21 December 1941 at Hong Kong by Japanese aircraft.

YATES Frederick
Corporal 3063031, 12th Battalion, Royal Scots (The Royal Regiment). Accidentally killed in the United Kingdom 25 October 1941. Aged 26. Born London, resident Blackpool. Son of Frederick Alfred and Alice Yates; husband of Ellen Nellie Yates, of Bispham, Blackpool. Buried in BISPHAM (ALL HALLOWS) CHURCHYARD, Lancashire. Section A. Grave 782.
