2nd Class 1074216, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. Died as a
japanese prisoner of War 29th November 1943 captured in Java; died
when the ship he was sailing in, Suez Maru, was sunk by USS Bonefish,
off the Kangean Islands; the Japanese Captain Kawano ordered the
shooting of the prisoners in the water and from 14.15 to 16.30 the
Minesweeper W.12 massacred the survivors using machine gun and rifles.
Aged 32. Born 28th May 1911 in Burnley, Lancashire. Son of Thomas
Edmond and Margaret Shuttleworth, of 57, Corn Road, Burnley, Lancashire.
B.Sc. (Manchester). In the 1939 Register he was an Unemployed Science
Graduate, B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics, son of Margaret Shuttleworth,
resident 57 Colne Road, Burnley C.B., Lancashire. No known grave.
Commemorated at SINGAPORE MEMORIAL, Kranji War Cemetery, Singapore.

in several court cases. Cremated 19 September 1940 and commemorated
