The
Milnrow Memorial stands in its own grounds within the park in Milnrow,
Greater Manchester. The memorial was moved here due to road improvement.
It was originally at the Kiln Lane end of Dale Street, set back from
the road near Milnrow Bridge. The memorial is made from Bollington sandstone
and consists of a plinth surmounted by a bronze statue of a soldier
with his rifle and fixed bayonet with a York sandstone pediment. The
names listed on three panels with a fourth listing those of World War
2. There are 144 names for World War 1 and 54 for World War 2. The memorial
was dedicated by Rev. T W Wareham and unveiled by Major General A Solly-Flood
August 1924; the sculptor was G Thomas.
