The
memorial stands on Ermine Street, Appleby, at the junction of Ermine
Street and Paul Lane and takes the form of an oak tree with a dedicatory
granite stone of remembrance placed in front of it. There are seven
names for World War 1 and three for World War 2. The tree was planted,
and the memorial dedicated, on 10th November 1923. Details appeared
in the Scunthorpe Star 17th November 1923.
