The memorial for Great Ponton is to be found within the grounds of Holy Cross church. It takes the form of an obelisk mounted on a plinth with a two-stepped base.

Private G/22838. 1st Battalion, Royal West Surrey Regiment. Killed in action 25th September 1917, aged 20 years. Son of Mr and Mrs T Ablewhite of Elton, Notts. Born Grantham, enlisted Lincoln and resident Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated TYNE COT MEMORIAL. Panel 14 to 17 and 162 to 162A.

Arthur Samuel

Sapper 256286. 21st Light Railway Operating Coy, Royal Engineers. Died of wounds 24th October 1917, aged 22 years. Son of William and Emma Elizabeth Clapton of Great Ponton, Lincs. Born Great Ponton, Lincs and enlisted Doncaster, Yorks. Commemorated LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY. XXII.D.15.

Possibly Private 40736. 7th Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. Killed in action 23rd March 1918. Born Boston, enlisted Lincoln and resident Boston, Lincs. Commemorated OZIERES MEMORIAL. Panel 28 and 29.

Private 40831. 4th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Died home 18th November 1918, aged 21 years. Son of Mrs Musson of Great Ponton, Lincs. Enlisted Newark, Notts and resident Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated GREAT PONTON (Holy Cross) CHURCHYARD.

Private 45048. 1st Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 21st March 1918, aged 21 years. Son of Charles and Emily Tuckwood of Great Ponton, Lincs. Enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated POZIERES MEMORIAL. Panel 23 and 24.

Welbourne on both CWGC/SDGW. Sapper 554154. 511th Field Coy, Royal Engineers. Killed in action 29th October 1917, aged 29 years. Son of Hiram Welbourne of Great Ponton, Lincs and husband of Annie Welbourne of Clayworth, Notts. Born Great Ponton, Lincs, enlisted Victoria Park, Mdx and resident Clayworth, Notts. Commemorated TYNE COT MEMORIAL. Panel 8 and 162.

Private 98680. 236th Coy, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry). Killed in action 12th October 1917, aged 19 years. Son of Fanny Wilkinson of Great Ponton, Lincs. Born Great Ponton and enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated POELCAPELLE BRITISH CEMETERY. XLII.B.8.

Possibly Reginald Nixon. Steward. SS Akeld (Newcastle on Tyne), Merchant Navy. Died 9th March 1940, aged 27 years. Son of Hudson Henry and Annie Fisher of Stockton on Tees, Co Durham. Commemorated TOWER HILL MEMORIAL. Panel 4.

Possibly Stanley William Nixon. Signalman 2380858. 51st Div Signals, Royal Corps of Signals. Died 30th July 1943, aged 25 years. Husband of Mary Nixon of Stainforth, Yorks. Commemorated CATANIA WAR CEMETERY, Sicily. IV.H.32.
