Air Mechanic 1st Class FAA/FX 83682, H.M.S. ‘Avenger’ , Royal Navy. Died when Aircraft carrier H.M.S. ‘Avenger’ was torpedoed while attempting to return home from North Africa 15 November 1942. Aged 20. Son of Norman Vincent Ford and Minnie Ford, of Scunthorpe. No known grave. Commemorated on LEE ON SOLENT MEMORIAL, Hampshire. Bay 3, Panel 5.

Guardsman 2616413, 2nd Battalion, Grenadier Guards. He was shot and injured, some French people hid him and tried to save him but sadly he died of his wounds 1 June 1940. Aged 19. Born Lincoln, resident Lincolnshire. Won an award at the Scunthorpe Music Festival for Pianoforte solo for chldren under 10, 14 May 1930 [Article in Hull Daily Mail 14 May 1930, page 12]. Buried in DUNKIRK TOWN CEMETERY, Nord, France. Grave lost. Special memorial at Plot 2. Row 12. Grave 25.
