(A.A.C.). Died 19 September 1944. Aged 18. Born and resident Lincolnshire.
Son of William Arthur and Laura Muriel Youell, of New Brumby, Lincolnshire.
Served with the Royal Lincolnshire Regiment before volunteering
for airborne forces in early 1944. He qualified as a military parachutist
after completing course 110 which ran at R.A.F. Ringway in April
1944 and was posted to 2 Section, Mortars Platoon, Support Company,
10th Parachute Battalion and went with them on Operation Market
Garden. Died in the Battle for Arnhem, on 19 September 1944, aged
18 years old. He and others of 2 Section, Mortars, were killed at
the roadside at Wekeromseweg near the La Cabine pumping station,
where they were given a field burial before being laid to rest at
Oosterbeek War Cemetery Arnhem. Buried in ARNHEM OOSTERBEEK WAR
CEMETERY, Gelderland, Netherlands. Plot 5. Row C. Grave 5. No further
information currently available -
