There
are two memorials in the church of St. Lawrence, Laurel Lane, Thornton
Curtis. The first tablet is a First World War memorial listing 13 names.
This memorial is in form of a nowy headed tablet set on a dark stone
base with a coat of arms at the top and a shelf at the bottom and scrolls
attached to each side with the letting in black in the centre. This
memorial was unveiled on 1st December 1920. The second is a Second World
War memorial that lists 5 names. This memorial is in form of a rectangular
board with a moulded edge and black lettering and is to be found in
the North aisle. A framed, glazed, Roll of Honour, also in the church,
records the names of 71 men who 56 who served and returned and 15 who
died in World War 1, the odd two are not listed here. A Roll of Honour
also exists for those who served in World War 2 listing 31 names, 26
who served and returned and 5 who died.
