The memorial can be found in the churchyard of St Bartholomew's church and takes the form of a granite obelisk mounted on a tapered, plinth on a three stepped base.

William Thomas
Private 10314. 5th Battalion, Royal Berkshire Regiment. Died of wounds 18th October 1915, aged 24 years. Son of Mr and Mrs Armstrong of Welby, Lincs. Born Stanton, Mdx, enlisted Reading, Berks and resident Welby Pastures, Lincs. Commemorated WIMEREUX COMMUNAL CEMETERY. I.K.14A.

BOYER

Private 35114. 1st Battalion, Leicestershire Regiment, formerly 13693 Lincolnshire Regiment. Died of wounds 11th August 1918. Born Welby, enlisted Lincoln and resident Welby, Lincs. Commemorated LE QUESNOY COMMUNAL CEMETERY. II.D.7.

BRADLEY

Charles Wilfred
Private 42601. 2/6th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Killed in action 30th July 1917. Born Welby and enlisted Grantham, Lincs. Commemorated NIEUPORT MEMORIAL.

HOLMES

Sidney
Private 40072. 20th Battalion, Manchester Regiment, formerly 22587 Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 22nd December 1916. Born Oundle, Northants 31 March 1892 and enlisted Grantham, Lincs, 21 February 1916 in the Lincolnshire Regiment, transferred September 1916 to 20th Battalion, Manchester Regiment. Son of Ivett Holmes (a Shepherd) and Amy Scott of the Dedn, Welby Warren. In the 1901 census he is resident with his family at elby Warren Cottages, Welby. In the 1911 census he was no longer at home with his parents. Commemorated THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. Pier and Face 13A and 14C.
