The memorial can be found in the grounds of St Mary's church in North Street and takes the form of a three stepped base surmounted by a round plinth, a tapered column, a cornice and an urn with an inscription in gold painted lettering on the front face of the memorial. The World War 2 inscription is to be found on a tablet carved in the shape of an open book and placed against the front face of the stepped base. There are 17 names listed by rank, name, year of death and Regiment for World War 1; 12 names listed by rank, name, year of death and Regiment for World War 2; one name for the South Atlantic (Falklands War). The orginal memorial was unveiled on 13th August 1921; the builders were Messrs. Tyas and Guest. Details of the unveiling can be found in the Epworth Bells newspaper 21st August 1921.

GLEW	Richard	Private, Yorkshire Regiment, 26th August 1918 on memorial. No Richard Glew traced, possibly Robert Glew. Private 53287. 2nd Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. South Atlantic (Falklands)
DAWSON	Stephen R	Acting Petty Officer Catering Accountant D155633A, HMS Coventry, Royal Navy. Died 25th May 1982, aged 22 years. Note: On May 25th 1982, while on patrol off Pebble Island, the destroyer HMS COVENTRY and the frigate HMS BROADSWORD were attacked by aircraft which hit both ships with bombs; the latter sustained only superficial damage but HMS COVENTRY, hit by two 1,000 lb bombs, capsized and sank with the loss of 19 lives.
