Seething is situated a few miles north of Bungay. The War Memorial stands at a road junction in village behind church of St. Margaret & St. Remigius and covers both Seething and Mundham villages.

Serjeant 11131. 7th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action in France & Flanders on 15th April 1918. Aged 29. Born and lived Seething. Enlisted Grimsby. Son of Arthur and Emily M. N. Bale, of Seething, Brooke, Norwich. Buried: Varennes Military Cemetery, Somme, France. Ref. I. M. 9.

Private 14732. 9th Battalion Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action in France & Flanders on 15th September 1916. Aged 27. Born Seething. Enlisted Norwich. Son of Lewis and Hannah Bird, of Upgall, Seething, Norwich. Commemorated: Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Pier and Face 1 C and 1 D.

BLIGH

Alfred

Private 472064. 46th Battalion Canadian Infantry (Saskatchewan Regiment.) Died on 19th November 1916. Aged 29. Born in Berghapton, Norfolk on 17th August 1887. Lived in Wadena, Sask. where he was a farmer. Son of Walter and Emma Bligh, of Seething Fen, Brooke, Norwich, England. Private Bligh was unmarried. Commemorated: Vimy Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Lance Corporal 18863. 2nd Battalion (Memorial gives 3rd Battalion) Norfolk Regiment. Died in India on 16th July 1916. Aged 27. Born Hartley, Norfolk. Enlisted Norwich. Son of George Richard and Jane Knights, of Seething, Norfolk. Commemorated: Kirkee 1914-1918 Memorial, India. Face 3.

Private G/21243. 2nd Battalion Queen’s Royal West Surrey Regiment. Formerly 19778 East Surrey Regiment. Killed in action in France & Flanders on 2nd April 1917. Born Kirstead. Lived Seething. Guardsman 2658972. 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. Died on 22nd April 1941. Aged 21. Son of Arthur John and Ethel May Butcher, of Mundham. Buried: Mundham (St. Peter) Churchyard, Norfolk.

Captain 138787. 9th Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment. Died on 15th February 1943. Aged 22. Son of Arthur Beverley Ringer and Marion Beverley Ringer; husband of Jean Muriel Ringer, of Norwich. Buried: Seething (St. Margaret Of Antioch And Remigius) Churchyard.

Gunner 1114539. 105 Anti-Tank Regiment, Royal Artillery. Died on 28th June 1944. Aged 25. Son of Fred and Mary Rudd; husband of Olive Rudd, of Caversham, Reading, Berkshire. Buried: Orvieto War Cemetery, Italy. Ref. I, G, 9.
