The Memorial Cross to the men and women of Sheringham and Beeston Regis who lost their lives during the wars, was unveiled on 1st January 1921. It is the work of Herbert Palmer, it is 26 feet high and made of Clipsham Stone in the style of Queen Eleanor.

A further memorial board can be found in St Peter's Church which stands on the same road as the memorial.

Only son of Douglas Wardleworth, M.D., J.P., and Annie Wardleworth, of Bury, Lancs; husband of Mary Winifred Wardleworth, of Welborne Rectory, Welborne, Dereham, Norfolk. He was, at the time he volunteered to serve in the Royal Army Medical Corps, a doctor in Sheringham. In the 1911 census he was aged 31, husband of Mary Winifred Wardleworth, born Bolton, Lancashire, resident St Nicholas Place, Sheringham. Maried circa October 1910 in Norfolk. Buried in STE.
