SUTTON WAR MEMORIAL

The memorial is situated in the churchyard of St Michael’s church. It takes the form of a wheeled cross inset with a sword of sacrifice on stone, rounded, plinthwith two steps leading up to it.

Private 41309, 2nd/6th Battalion,, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. Died 7th July 1918. Son of Edward and Flora Beales, of Sutton Stalham, Norwich. Buried Isberues Communal Cemetery, France, 6.

GIBBS

William Robert

Private 3/7057 7th Battalion,, Norfolk Regiment. Died 19th September 1917. Buried Monchy British Cemetery, Monchy-le-Preux, France, I. M. 16.

GRIMES

Albert Ernest

Private M2/115084 694th M.T. Coy., Army Service Corps. Died 30th October 1918. Aged 23. Son of William and Susannah Grimes, of Beech House, Sutton, Stalham, Norfolk. (Buried Peshawar (Right) B.C. XLV. 25.). Commemorated on the Delhi Memorial (India Gate), India, Face 23.

RICHARDSON

Herbert John

Private 27080, 2nd Battalion,, Norfolk Regiment. Died 25th August 1917. Commemorated on the Kirkee 1914 - 1918 Memorial, India, Face 3. Herbert Richardson was born in Sutton and enlisted in Wroxham.
