Private 61284 Labour Corps. Formerly 38896. 35th Battalion Royal Fusiliers. Died in France & Flanders on 1st March 1918. Born and lived Thurton. Enlisted Norwich. Buried: Mendinghem Military Cemetery, Poperinge, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Ref. IX. E. 10.
FARROW Charles George
Private G/9096. 7th Battalion The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). Killed in action in France & Flanders on 26th February 1917. Lived and enlisted Norwich. Buried: Regina Trench Cemetery, Grandcourt, Somme, France. Ref. IX. A. 7.
WITHAM Wallace
(Spelt Wallis on CWGC & CD). Private G/50821. 4th Battalion Middlesex Regiment. Formerly G/11828 Royal Sussex Regiment. Killed in action in France & Flanders on 10th October 1917. Aged 19. Born Thurston, Norfolk (Possibly this should be Thurton). Lived Thurton. Enlisted Norwich. Son of Mrs. Agnes Witham, of 24, The Street, Thurton, Norwich. Commemorated: Tyne Cot Memorial, Somme, France. Panel 113 to 115.
HARVEY Miles
Private 71177. 29th Battalion Middlesex Regiment. Transferred to (180419) 339th Company, Labour Corps. Died at home on 29th March 1919. Aged 35. Buried: Thurton (St. Ethelbert) Churchyard West of church. [This was a later addition to the memorial and the memorial was rededicated on Sunday 14th November 2021 including his name]

Private 5772113. 4th Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment. Died on 17th November 1943. Aged 25. Son of Lewis Sydney and Letha Maria Herwin, of Thurton, Norfolk. His brother Thomas William also died on service. Buried: Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery, Myanmar. Ref. B3. X. 1.
HERWIN Thomas William
Private 5774223. 4th Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment. Died on 7th October 1943. Aged 22. Son of Lewis Sydney and Letha Maria Herwin, of Thurton, Norfolk. His brother Eric George also died on service. Buried: Chungkai War Cemetery, Thailand. Ref. 2. G. 4.
PURLING John Edward
Serjeant 5777527. 1st Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment. Died on 11th June 1944. Aged 27. Son of William E. B. Purling and Mabel G. F. Purling, of Thurton; husband of Emma Purling, of Swafield. Buried: Thurton (St. Ethelbert) Churchyard.
