Trunch is a village midway between Mundesley and North Walsham. The memorial is a rough grey, granite, cross on a rectangular stone plinth in churchyard of St Botolph's Church, Front Street, Trunch. It is a listed monument. The memorial was presumably erected, around 1920. The memorial commemorates 14 local servicemen who fell in the First World War and one man who fell in the Second World War.

Private 15871, 6th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Died Thursday 28 October 1915. Age 20. Born and lived Trunch. Enlisted Norwich. Son of Henry and Anna Burnett, of Chapel Rd., Trunch, Walsham, Norfolk. Buried in CAIRO WAR MEMORIAL CEMETERY, Egypt. Plot D. Grave 165.

BURNETT Thomas Henry

Private 242538, 1st/5th Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Died Thursday 19 April 1917. Age 24. Born Trunch. Enlisted Cromer. Son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Burnett; husband of Ida Burnett, of Brick Kiln Rd., Trunch, North Walsham, Norfolk. No known grave. Commemorated on JERUSALEM MEMORIAL, Israel. Panels 12 to 15.

CUTTING John Percy

Private 3/7880, 1st Battalion, Norfolk Regiment. Killed in action 27 May 1915. Born Knapton, Norfolk, enlisted Norwich, Norfolk. In the 1911 census he was aged 15, born Knapton, a Gardener Marker, son of Afred Cutting, resident Trunch, Norfolk. No known grave. FLAXMAN Herbert James

Private 20547, 1st Battalion,, Essex Regiment. Died at sea Friday 13 August 1915. Age 24. Born and lived Trunch. Enlisted Norwich. Son of Henry H. and Louisa C. Flaxman, of Brewery Rd., Trunch, Norwich. No known grave. Commemorated on HELLES MEMORIAL, Turkey. Panel 144 to 150 or 229 to 233.

FULLER Alfred Sydney

Private 20549, 1st Battalion, Essex Regiment formerly 17818, Norfolk Regiment. Died at sea 13th August 1915. Born and resident Trunch, enlisted Norwich. Born June Quarter 1888 in Erpingham 4b 63. In the 1891 census he was aged 3, born Trunch, son of Thomas and Susanna Maria Trunch, resident Chapel Street, Trunch, Erpingham, Norfolk. In the 1911 census for Trunch he is listed as aged 23, living in Chapel Road with parents Thomas and Maria and also with brother Owen (see below) aged 12, born March 1899 Erpingham 4b 68. No known grave. Commemorated on HELLES MEMORIAL, Turkey (including Gallipoli). Panel 146 to 151 or 229 to 233.

FULLER Charles Henry

Private 26560, 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards. Killed in action 6 November 1918. Aged 40. Enlisted Walthamstow. Husband of Mary J. Fuller, of 7, Brettenham Rd., Walthamstow, Essex. In the 1881 census he was new born in Trunch, son of Henry and Hannah Fuller, resident Trunch, Erpingham, Norfolk. In the 1891 census he was aged 10, born Trunch, a scholar, son of Henry and Hannah Fuller, resident Chapel Street, Trunch, Erpingham, Norfolk. Buried in South corner of OBIES COMMUNAL CEMETERY, Nord, France.

Private PW/5866. 1st Battalion, Middlesex Regiment. Formerly 28977 Bedfordshire Regiment. Died of wounds Tuesday 20th November 1917. Age 36. Born Trunch. Lived North Walsham. Enlisted Norwich.
