Taiping, Kamunting Christian Cemetery, MalaysiaTaiping is a town in Perak State, about 97 kilometres south-east of Penang in the north- west of Malaysia. The cemetery, formerly known as Penang Road Civil Cemetery, is on the road from Ipoh to Penang (Jalan Kamunting) at milestone 54, about 4 kilometres south of Taiping town. The area is called Happy Park and faces Taman Taiping (Taiping Garden). Within the cemetery the single 1939-1945 Commonwealth war grave will be found to the left of the main entrance lane and just behind the plot of military graves dating from the mid-fifties. There is 1 Commonwealth burial of the 1939-1945 war commemorated in this site. C.W.G.C. now care for the 186 non World War burials including an unidentified child of a member of the Royal Australian Regiment in Plot H. Grave 32. Tiose who died after World War 2 gave their lives in Malayan Emergency 16 June 1948 - 31 July 1960, Indonesian Confrontation 24 December 1962 - 1 August 1966 and the Malay Peninsula 19 February 1964 - 11 August 1966. Taiping (Kamunting Road) Christian Cemetery is open at all times. A database of service personnel from all Commwealth Forces that died during the Emergency can be found here.
