USAAF MEMORIAL

A simple stone memorial adjacent to the village War Memorial, opposite the Church. Laid 16 September 2003.

In memory of the 10 Crew members of the B17 ‘Sonora Kay’ Fortress aircraft of the 388^th BG, USAAF that crashed at Upper Cilgee Farm, Llanyre, late on the 16^th September 1943, after a raid on the U Boat Pens at La Pallice, SW France.
