Turbine Steamer "THE QUEEN" was owned by South Eastern & Chatham Railway Company. She was built in 1903, "The Queen" was well appointed and fast and could cross the channel in under one hour. On 26th October 1916, during World War 1 she was captured by a German destroyer south of the Kent coast, her passengers and crew ordered off, and then sunk by torpedo
