The memorial for Stoke St Mary takes the form of two brass plaques on the lid of the font in St. Mary's Church.

TTO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918. ESPECIALLY WILLIAM BURT OF THIS PARISH WHO WAS KILLED IN FRANCE ON THE 29TH OF AUGUST 1918.

AND IN HONOUR OF ALL THOSE IN THIS PARISH WHO SERVED IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR 1939 - 1945.

Coporal 27720, 1st Battalion, Prince Albert's (Somerset Light Infantry). Killed in action in France 29th August 1918. Born Stoke St. Mary, enlisted Taunton. Formerly 1624, West Sormset Yeomanry. No known grave. Commemorated on VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 4.
