The
Twerton War Memorial is on the North Side of St Michael and All Angels
Church set back from Twerton High Street it can only be approached by
the footpath. It commemorates only the First World War, 147 names, and
many of the soldiers named also appear on the main Bath War Memorial.
It takes the form of a Celtic Cross within a wheel on a tapering shaft
mounted on a plinth with a three stepped base. The memorial was unveiled
by the Marquis of Bath and dediucated by Prebendary L Fish in March
1921. The memorial was erected by public subscription of £356
0s 0d. Details appeared in the Bath Chronicle 26th March 1921 (page
6).
