In Finningham war memorial can be found in the grounds of the parish church, Finningham. It takes the form of a Saxon cross on a tapered contagonal column resting on a plinth with a two stepped base; four posts have been placed at the four corners to hold a chain link fence. The memroial was unveiled 16 November 1919, it had cost £80 and had been built by Mr J Cooley. Details of the memorial appeared in the East Anglian Daily Times 17 November 1919. There are 15 names listed for World War 1 and 2 for World War 2.

BAILEY	Percy	Gunner 8847 Percy Bailey was born in Finningham c1878. He enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery 2nd Division Ammunition Column in Bury St Edmunds. He served in France & Flanders and died on 25th December 1917 aged 39. He is buried at Lebucquiere Communal Cemetery Extension Grave I. B. 16 and is remembered on the Finningham War Memorial. He was the son of William and Anna Bailey, of Swiss Cottage, School Street, Stoke-by-Nayland, Colchester.
BAKER	Alfred	Private 9038 Alfred Baker was born in West Thorpe c1894. He enlisted in the 2nd Suffolk Regiment in Bury St Edmunds August 1914. He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 16th June 1917 aged 23. He is remembered on the Arras Memorial Bay 4 and on the Finningham War Memorial. He was the son of George and Louisa Baker, of The Bridge, Finningham.
BAKER	Frederick C	Private 40208 Frederick C. Baker was born in West Thorpe. He originally enlisted as 28230 in the Essex Regiment in Bury St Edmunds, later transferring to the 4th Bedfordshire Regiment. He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 7th February 1917. He is buried at Ancre British Cemetery, Beaumont-Hamel Grave VII. F. 3 and is remembered on the Finningham War Memorial. He was a resident of Stowmarket.
BLOOMFIELD	Harry	Lance/Corporal 9053 Harry Bloomfield was born in Finningham c1896. He enlisted in the 7th Suffolk Regiment in Bury St Edmunds. He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 28th April 1917 aged 21. He is remembered on the Arras Memorial Bay 4 and on the Finningham War Memorial. He was the son of James and Ursula Bloomfield, of Green Lane, Firmingham.
BURROWS	Harry James	Private 203377 Harry James Burrows was born in Gresley Notts c1888. He enlisted in the 1st/5th Sherwood Foresters Regiment in Eye on 17th March 1916. He served in France & Flanders and was drowned on 17th April 1917 aged 29. He is remembered on the Hollybrook Memorial, Southampton and on the Finningham War Memorial. He was the son of Kate Burrows, of Finningham, and the late Thomas Burrows.
HOLT	James Arthur	Gunner 7730 James Arthur Holt was born in Finningham c1881. He enlisted in the Royal Garrison Artillery 77th Heavy Battery. He served in Mesopotamia and died on 3rd July 1916 aged 35. He is buried at Basra War Cemetery Grave V T 17 and is remembered on the Finningham War Memorial. He was a resident of Halstead Sussex. Husband of Alice Emily Halls (formerly Holt), of High Road, Cotton.
HOWLETT	Ernest	Private 39041 Ernest Howlett was born in Hawkedon. He enlisted in the 7th Highland Light Infantry in Botesdale. He was drowned at Sea on 4th May 1917. He is remembered on the Savona Memorial and on the Finningham War Memorial.
KERRIDGE	Frederick	Private 267562 Frederick Kerridge was born in Bury St Edmunds. He enlisted in the 2nd Bedfordshire Regiment in Stowmarket. He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 18th September 1918. He is buried at Ste. Emilie Valley Cemetery, Villers-Faucon Grave I E 7 and is remembered on the Finningham War Memorial. He was a resident of Finningham.
LINGLEY	Frederick James	Private 15339 Frederick James Lingley enlisted in the 9th Suffolk Regiment. He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 13th September 1916. He is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial Pier & Face 1C&2A and on the Finningham War Memorial.
LINSTEAD	Edward	Stoker First Class 312457 Edward Linstead was born in Stowmarket on 12th April 1887. He enlisted in the Royal Navy, serving on HMS Invincible and was drowned at sea during the battle of Jutland on 31st May 1916 aged 29. He is remembered on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial and on the Finningham War Memorial.
ROSE	Robert	Private 18592 Robert Rose was born in Finningham c1889. He enlisted in the 11th Suffolk Regiment in Driffield Suffolk. He served in France & Flanders and was killed in action on 19th April 1918 aged 28. He is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial Panel 4 and on the Finningham War Memorial. He was the son of Mrs. Eliza Rose, of Finningham, and the late Charles Rose.
SELSBY	Edward	Private 33660 Edward Selsby was born in c1889. He enlisted in the 1st Border Regiment. He served in France & Flanders and died of wounds on 28th August 1917 aged 28. He is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery Plot XXV. Row N. Grave 2A and is remembered on the Finningham War Memorial. He was the son of William and Sarah Ann Selsby, of Finningham; husband of Alice Mary Selsby, of Finningham.
SILLETT	Samuel	[Spelt SYLETT on CWGC and SDGW] Private 37101, 16th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. Died on service 8 August 1917. Born Wickham Skeith, Suffolk [SDGW states Lewisham, London]. Birth recorded in April to June Quarter 1884 to Charles & Emma Sillett (nee Garrard). No known grave. Commemorated on Nieuport Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
WARNE	William [Arthur]	Private 305776, 1st/6th Battalion, Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment). In the 1901 census Arthur Warne lived on Back Street, Gislingham. He was a widower with his children Frederick (14), Blanche (12), William (11), and the housekeeper, Emma Garling (or Girling). In 1911, aged 21, William was living at Old Manston Lane, Crossgates, Austhorpe, Yorkshire, near Leeds, born Gislingham neae Eye, Suffolk, a cowman on a farm. He had married Emily Plummer (or Preimmer or Primear or Primner) Prince 30 May 1909 at Burmantofts, St Agnes and St Stephen, Yorkshire, at which time he was a Railway Porter, and they had a son, George Edward, aged 1. Over the next few years they were to have three more children – Blanche M. (1911), William A. (1913), Lily (1915) and Doris (1918). William died on service in Hautmont field hospital 29 September 1918 due to an accident [source: Soldiers Effects]. Enlisted Leeds. He is buried in Hautmont Communal Cemetery, Nord, France. Plot IV. Row A. Grave 32.

BIRCH	Frank	Driver T/128992 Frank Michael Birch served in the Royal Army Service Corps 3 Corps Petrol Park. He died between 26th and 29th May 1940 aged 24. He is remembered on the Dunkirk Memorial Column 134 and on Finningham War Memorial. He was the son of Arthur Edward and Helen Birch; husband of Kathleen Alice Birch, of Finningham.
RUSH	Samuel	Private 5831230 Samuel Rush served in the 4th Suffolk Regiment. He died on 10th August 1943 aged 23. He is buried at Thanbyuzayat War Cemetery Grave B4. C. 1 and is remembered on Finningham War Memorial.
