World War 2 details Martin Biddle
The
memorials are to be found in St Mary's Church, High Street, Trimley
St Mary. The first takesa the form of plaque and the second a stained
glass window. The First World War plaque is made from alabaster with
a celtic cross above it and contains 17 names; it was unveiled by Brigadier-General
S E Massey-Lloyd and dedicated by the Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich
on 16th May 1920, details appearing in the East Anglian Daily Times
17th May 1920. The masons were Messrs. Courthorpe & Sons. The Second
World War memorial is three light stained glass window depicting Christ
surrounded by his disciples. There are 7 names listed for the Second
World War; this memorial was deicated by the Venerable C O George on
6th November 1949.
