Died of pneumonia in Rawalpindi, Bengal, India, 25 August 1916, initially admitted to hospital 16 August 1916. Aged 29. Resident Bexhill, enlisted Hastings, Sussex. Husband of Gertrude E (nee Tindall, formerly Quaife) Major, of 11, Upper Boundary Road, Derby, married October to December Quarter 1912 in Battle Registration District, Sussex. Attested 29 October 1914 at Hastings as 20043, 5th Battalion, Royal Sussex Regiment transferred to 593, 24th Battalion, Rifle Brigade 30 October 1915. Buried 26 August 1916 in RAWALPINDI WAR CEMETERY, Pakistan. Plot 3. Row C. Grave 23. |
