Ferring is a village in the area surrounding Worthing on the A259. The war memorial is situated at the junction of Ferring Street and Sea Lane, on Ferring Street, Ferring, Arun, West Sussex. It takes the form of a Crusader style cross with tall stem on a rough hewn plinth with the whole memorial set on an additional square plinth added after World War 2 along with a single step. The memorial contains five names for World War 1 and 25 for World War 2. It was unveiled by Colonel Matthew Purcell and consecrated by the Archdeacon of Chichester 6 November 1921.

BENNETT	William Aaron	Corporal PO/8433 Royal Marines Light Infantry, H.M.S. Ramsey. Died 8th August 1915, Aged 39. Son of Jane Bennett, of East Ferring Lane. Husband of Eva Bennett, of Ferring, Sussex. No known grave. Commemorated on The Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire. Panel 9.
HOARE	Reginald Albert	Rifleman 5681 3rd Battalion Rifle Brigade. Died 1st September 1916, Aged 21. Son of Henry James Hoare and Mary A Hoare, of Ferring, Sussex. No known grave. Commemorated on The Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. Pier and Face 16 B and 16 C.
KILHAM	George	Rifleman 12064 4th Battalion The King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Died 24th April 1915. No known grave. Commemorated on The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 51 and 53.
WINTON	John	Lance Corporal 9376 2nd Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. Died 22nd May 1915, Aged 29. Son of John Winton and Charlotte Winton, of Ferring, Sussex. No known grave. Commemorated on The Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, West Vlaanderen, Belgium. Panel 21 and 31.

BRETSCHER	Eric Maxwell	Sergeant (Air Gunner) 1212930 Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, 115 Squadron. Died 23rd March 1944, Aged 22. Son of Bruno Bretscher and Mildred Augusta Bretscher, of Kingston Gorse, Sussex. Commemorated on Brighton (Woodvale) Borough Crematorium, Sussex. Panel 1.

Son of Colonel Charles Vincent Gordon and Frances Edith Gordon. Husband of Emma Florence Gordon, of Kingston Manor, Sussex. Buried in St Andrew’s Churchyard, Ferring, Sussex.
