HUMBLETON ST PETER WAR MEMORIAL

The Humbleton memorial is to be found within St Peter's Church, Fitling Road, Humbleton, Holderness, Humberside. It takes the form of a Brass wall-mounted plaque with Union Flag in wreath at top and floriated borderwith an incised inscription, names and dedication for clock. There are 53 names, 47 who served and returned and 6 who died. The names here have been sorted by died and served and returned within which they are in alphabetcial order. Those who died are marked by an aterisk ("*").

Possibly George Broadley. Private 8987. 2nd Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action 23rd April 1915, aged 30 years. Son of James and Catherine Broadley of 62 Clarenden Street, Hull, Yorks. Born Huggate and enlisted Hull, Yorks. Commemorated Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. Panel 31 and 31.

George Broadley. Private 242337. 1st Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. Died 6th May 1917, aged 38 years. Brother of Mrs Elizabeth H Maddison of 7 Harcourt Terrace, Hull, Yorks. Born Withernwick and enlisted Beverley, Yorks. Commemorated Arras memorial. Bay 2 and 3.
* COULSON Francis Harold
Private 142131. 18th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), formerly 21898 East Yorkshire Regiment. Died of wounds 13th September 1918, aged 26 years. Son of W and A Coulson of Elstronwick, Yorks. Born Erith, KEN and enlisted Hull, Yorks. Commemorated St Sever Cemetery Extension. R.II.E.18.

Appears to be George Edward Fenn, born c1895 Hull the son of Henry and Charlotte Fenn, and brother of Herbert Fenn. Present 1911 with parents and brother at 16 Ferry Avenue, Stoneferry, Sculcoates, Yorks. G E Fenn (forenames not noted on CWGC). Lance Corporal 201631. 3rd Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment. Died 20th January 1919. Commemorated Hull (Hedon Road) Cemetery. 374.76.
* FENN Herbert
Private 28427. 7th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment. Died of wounds 9th June 1918, aged 21 years. Son of Henry and Charlotte Fenn of Elstronwick Cottage, Elstronwick, Yorks. Born and enlisted Hull, Yorks. Commemorated Acheux British Cemetery. Plot 1. Row D. Grave 31.
* ROBINSON Cecil Beaumont

Lieutenant. 13th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment, attached 9th Battalion. Died 14th September 1916, aged 32 years (as CWGC but see individual memorial). Son of (the late) Alfred Ernest and Alice Maud Robinson. Commemorated Thiepval Memorial. Pier and Face 2A, 2C and 2D.
