Commissioned 8th January 1942 as an escort destroyer of the Hunt (Type III) class, christened Airedale. Bombed and heavily damaged by German Ju 87 (Stuka) divebombers south of Crete in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea 15th June 1942 while escorting the convoy "Vigorous". Scuttled by HMS Aldenham and HMS Hurworth. |
