The town war memorial for Thorpe Le Soken, Essexis just through town centre on the junction of B1033 (Abbey Street) and B1414 (Station Road)and Thorpe Road. It takes the form of a five-stepped base surmounted by a tapered plinth, shaft and Latin cross. The inscription is in black lettering on two sides of the plinth. And posts surround the memorial linked with chains. There are also three ornate street lights placed equidistant around the memorial. There are 37 names for World War 1 and 10 for World War 2. The memorial was first unveiled on 23rd May 1920 by General The Lord Byng of Vimy. Orginally a captured German mortar sat beside the memorial but has now been removed.
