The architect was Mr Harold F Walker and the builder Mr J C Rackham. On 23rd August 1940 the clock on the memorial was damaged by enemy action adn the clock stop at that time; the clock stayed this was for a further 5 years. In 1970 the clock was dismantled to allow regilding of the hands and new glass to be installed. The clock tower became a Grade 2 listed building in September 2001. For ease of reading the names have been sorted into alphabetical order and do not appear in the same order as the memorial.
