Private S/2664, "D" Company, 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. Killed in action 15 March 1915. Aged 27. Born and enlisted Alloa, Clackmannanshire. Son of Alexander and Jane Davie, of 6, Dirleton Gardens, Alloa. Came home from U.S.A. to enlist. Buried in VOORMEZEELE ENCLOSURE NO.3, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot XV. Row H. Grave 10.
DAWSON John
Private 201831, 10th Battalion, Princess Louise's (Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders). Killed in action 12 October 1917. Aged 31. Born and enlisted Alloa, Clackmannanshire. Son of Janet Dawson, of 74, Chalmers St., Dunfermline and the late James Dawson; husband of Janet Wark Dawson, of 5, Sunnyside Rd., Alloa. No known grave. Admitted to hospital 26 October 1917, died of Nephritis at 12 Canadian Military Hospital, Bramshott, Hampshire, England, 25 December 1917. Aged 27. Born 30 June 1889 in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland. Son of David and Margaret Dawson, of Ross House, Ochil St., Alloa, Scotland. Single, Engineer/Tool Maker by trade. Enlisted 25 February 1915 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, aged 24 years 8 months, height 5 feet 4¼ inches, weight 147 lbs, chest 34-37 inches, fair complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, religious denomination Presbyterian. Medical history shows he was admitted to Evington Military Hospital, Leicester 16 August 1916 suffering from Albuminusia and moved 15 September 1916 to C. C. Hospital, Epsom then moved again to Moore Barracks Hospital, Shorncliffe and discharged 6 December 1916; admitted to hospital at Cosham 23 January 1917 suffering from Gonorrhoea, discharged 12 March 1917; fnally admitted to No. 12 Canadian General Hospital, Bramshott, Hampshire, 26 October 1917 suffering from Chrnoic Nephritis where he died 25 December 1917; follow the National Archives link here for full history.
