In the 1901 census he was aged 7, born Leyton, Essex, son of William T and Banney (sic) Abbott, resident 156, Stewart Road, Cann Hall, West Ham, London & Essex. In the 1911 census he was aged 17, born Straford, Essex, an Accountant Clerk, son of William Tunnage Abbott (a widower), resident 79, Chandas Road, Stratford, Essex.

    Railway notes
    Joined the Great Eastern Railway in May 1910, working there until he enlisted 5 January 1916. Volunteered with a few others to take a position in France, and whilst the mission was achieved, he was killed in the attempt. He was very popular, and was missed by his many friends.
