Lieutenant Acting Captain, 13th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action 25 June 1917. Aged 25. Engineering Assistant, Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Garvie, of 4 Hollycroft-avenue, Hampsteasd; husband of Kathleen Garvie, of The Grange, Cheadle, Cheshire. Buried in DICKEBUSCH NEW MILITARY CEMETERY EXTENSION, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. Plot II. Row B. Grave 40.

GARVIE, PETER THOMAS, Capt., 13th Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, only s. of Thomas Henry Garvie, of 4, Holly-croft Avenue, Hampstead. N.W. by his wife, Elizabeth Janet, dau. of the late Thomas Dickson; b. Zyrardow, Russian Poland, 13 Sept. 1891; educ. Rontalers, Warsaw; Mill Hill School, London, and Royal Technical College, Glasgow; was a Corpl. in the O.T.C., Glasgow University; obtained a commission in Oct. 1914; served in Gallipoli, where he was slightly wounded, but remained there till June, 1915, when he was sent to Cairo suffering from typhoid fever; was on sick leave In England until Jan. 1916; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders, and was killed in action near Ypres 25 June, 1917. Buried in Dickebusch Military Cemetery. He was a keen sportsman, and played Rugby for the Glasgow Technical College and for the West of Scotland. He m. at Cheadle Parish Church, 2 Dec. 1916. Kathleen, only dau. of John Marriott, The Grange. Cheadle.

Captain, 25th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. Killed in action at Hargicourt Village 19 September 1918. Pupil, Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway. Born 27 July 1892 in Cardiff. In the 1901 census he was aged 8, born Cardiff, Glamorganshire, son of Charles F and Emma S Gooch, resident Kingsmead, Matfield, Brenchley, Tonbridge, Kent. In the 1911 census he was aged 18, born Cardiff, Glamorganshire, a boarder at Charterhouse, Godalming, Surrey. No known grave. Commemorated on VIS-EN-ARTOIS MEMORIAL, Pas de Calais, France. Panel 3. GOOCH, GEOFFREY FULTHORPE, Capt., 25th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery, 3rd s. of the late Charles Fulthorpe Gooch, of Kingsmead, Hatfield, co. Kent, J.P., Mining Engineer, by his wife, Emma Susan (7B, Bickenhall Mansions, Gloucester Place, London, W.), dau. of J. H: Astwood : b. Cardiff, 27 July, 1892; educ. The Grange, Hatfield; Charterhouse, and Liverpool University: joined the R.G.A. Territorials on the outbreak of war in Aug. 1914; was gazetted 2nd Lieut. R.G.A.; served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from the early part of 1916, and was killed in action at Hargicourt Village 19 Sept. 1918, while on a reconnaissance in a forward area. Buried in an isolated spot near the home quarries at Hargicourt: unm.

Educated at Blackpool Secondary School, St. Peter's College, Brussels, and Manchester University. In the 1901 census he was aged 3, born Lancashire, son of Joseph Crookes and Florence May Grime, resident 18, Reynard Road, Chorlton cum Hardy, Chorlton, Lancashire. Admitted to Blackpool Secondary School 5 April 1910, son of Joseph Crookes Grime, resident 84, Withnell Road, SouthShore, Blackpool, left 31 July 1912 to attend College St Pierre, Brusssels; previously educated at South Shore Council School and Arnold House School (Private). In the 1911 census he was aged 13, born Chorlton Handy, Lancashire, at school, son of Joseph Crookes and Flornece Mary Grime, resident 86, Osborne Road, South Shore, Blackpool, Lancashire.
